To create a new build bespoke personal storage facility, Dundee.
End user client – Kangaroo Self Storage, Dundee
Originally the development was with a developer on behalf of the ultimate client. When the developer went into liquidation we worked directly with the end user client.
A commission to assess the redevelopment options, to writing the brief, to design detail, to construction and occupation.
A large redundant industrial site retaining one large semi-derelict shed in one corner of the site.
A development combining the repair and refurbishment of the original building as a storage facility for large / bulky items.
The new building to include customer / administration / sales area / reception area – adjacent to the delivery / goods handling area for a custom built storage system over three storeys. The range of secure storage options from small lockers to walk-in storage rooms of varying sizes.
Each of those secure storage facilities being available on an immediate access basis for any length of time required by the customer.
Features: This was a bespoke storage system and required the co-ordination and installation of the fit-out system with the development of the building.
The Planners had restrictions on the external finishes etc. However, they agreed to our signage designs which incorporated the client’s Kangaroo image.
Our proposal to make it full height on the gable has since become the client’s corporate branding policy. We sought to have the Kangaroo’s head and ears project above the roof as a touch of humour and therefore marketing.
