Initiated by: A call from a journalist seeking our comments on announced development proposals for Waverley Station.
Our response: Let’s create something radically different for this area of the City Centre given its many distinctive features.
This to further distinguish the City Centre from other city centres where development is to a predictable, unimaginative formula.
Our idea: Repair and upgrade the roof of Waverley Station as a boating / sailing pond. Bespoke sailing boats suited to the site being available for hire. In the winter the pond being frozen over for skating and curling bonspiels (the Roaring Game).
In conclusion: the brightly coloured sailing boards in summer and the winter scene setting creating a vibrant activity and visual diversity to the City Centre.
