Job: War Memorial
Type: War Memorial
Location: Libya
Summary: Client: A Desert Rat veteran who wanted to create a memorial to all of the combatants from all of the opposing armies fighting in North Africa during the Second World War.
The Project: The client in due course promoted the project designs to many groups of veterans around the world. A site had been identified in Libya. However, the client refused all assistance / support from Colonel Gaddafi’s regime.
Financial contributions to develop the memorial were about to be sought from benefactors. Sadly Mr. Clarke (the client) died and all work on the proposal ceased.
Footnote: It would be interesting if benefactors came forward as willing to take the proposal to completion.
Might it be an even more fitting memorial if it was developed by the new Libyan Authorities both as a memorial to all combatants in the Second World War and to those in the recent campaign to secure the new found democracy in Libya. If so, do not hesitate to give us a call!
